Dean Elisabeth Wade Bio
Elisabeth Wade is a physical chemist, who earned her B.S. at Harvey Mudd College and her Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, under C. Bradley Moore. She was a postdoctoral researcher at San Jose State University and Sandia National Laboratories. Her research is in atmospheric chemistry, particularly on the reactions of pesticides in the atmosphere, and she has published 18 peer reviewed articles.
Dr. Wade was on the faculty at Mills College since 2000, where she taught courses in General, Analytical, and Physical Chemistry. She mentored 24 undergraduate and research students and served as an academic advisor to over 200 students. She was honored with the Trefethen Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship in 2009, which honors a faculty member who demonstrates commitment to both teaching and research in an undergraduate context.
Dr. Wade served as the Department Head for Chemistry and Program Head for Environmental Science for more than 15 years. She also served on several college wide committees, including the Faculty Executive Committee (equivalent to the Faculty Senate) where she chaired the Educational Policy Subcommittee. In 2017, she was appointed Associate Provost for Curriculum and Academic Resources at Mills, in which role she was responsible for developing the operating and salary budgets for Academic Affairs as well as supporting faculty in developing new courses and programs.
Dr. Wade is very excited to be joining the School of Science and Technology at Sonoma State, and is looking forward to a productive and interesting year in these challenging times!
